Loy Krathong: the most beautiful evening of the year
At this festival of lights, people float small baskets woven from banana leaves, holding candles and flowers, as an offering of thanks to the water goddess and a symbolic letting go of the old year. In Pattaya this happens along the entire beach, with the most enchanting scenes in Jomtien and Naklua Bay. In 2026 the full moon falls on 24/25 November. My tip: buy a krathong made from banana leaves, not styrofoam, and be at the water's edge before sunset.

The international fireworks festival
Traditionally held in late November, pyrotechnics teams from several countries compete against one another — and it is free to watch from the beach. The best spots: the promenade from around Central, rooftop bars, or — honestly the finest vantage point of all — your own balcony overlooking the bay. The city usually publishes the exact dates just a few weeks in advance.

Festival weeks are peak season: anyone who owns a condo with a bay view has the best seat in the city and the strongest rental weeks of the year. Which locations are best suited for this is covered in our location guide, and the figures behind it are shown in our price index.
